Da Crö is the perfect relaxing retreat for your Shetland holiday.
It is at a quiet hilltop location in Hamnavoe, Burra Isle with wonderful views over the village and out past the lighthouse to uninhabited islands at the edge of the Atlantic.
The entire apartment is wheelchair accessible.
Outside Da Crö there is an accessible patio area with seats and a table facing west towards the sunset. It is a great place to sit and relax at the end of the day.
There are a number of marvellous coastal walks close by; the white sands of one of the best loved Shetland beaches, Meal beach, are just a short stroll away.
Even though it is one of the scenic locations used in the Shetland detective series and a popular place with wild swimmers, you often have the beach all to yourself.
On the walk out to the lighthouse you might see seals, otters or orca.
Burra Isle is on the west side of Shetland and is a great base for anyone visiting Shetland. It is centrally located being only a short drive to the capital, Lerwick, and many other beautiful locations.
The kitchen has an induction hob with extractor fan, a large microwave, kettle, fridge, toaster, radio and plenty of storage space.
As you eat your meal at the kitchen table you look out across the village to the lighthouse and the North Atlantic.
The hallway has one wall filled with books and DVD’s.
At one end of the hall is a washing machine. There is an outdoor clothes line and an indoor clothes rack.
The Bathroom / Wetroom has a heated towel rail and a bathroom mirror with a shaver socket and light.
There is a roll in shower and the raised toilet has assistance rails.
The roll in shower has plenty of handholds and a shower seat.
There is one bedroom with a very comfortable double bed which has good quality bed linen and pillows. The bedside lamps have USB charge points.
There is a cosy living room with a TV monitor and DVD player.
This bookcase contains Shetland maps and books, which can be borrowed for your travels around the islands.
The boiler room is a warm, dry area which acts as a cloakroom and stores an iron and ironing board. It is a great place to dry off wet clothes.
Accessibility:
The rooms are designed to be also used by anyone with mobility issues. The wetroom has a non-slip floor, ample handholds in the shower, a lowered sink, a raised toilet and toilet assistance rails.
Most of the internal doors have been widened and converted to sliding doors for easier wheelchair access.
There is a wheelchair ramp to the front door.
Outside:
Outside the front of Da Crö there is an accessible patio area with seats and a table. It is a great place to sit and relax at the end of the day and quite often see some stunning sunsets.
There is a free parking space available at the property with a hosepipe beside it. Feel free to use it to wash your car, hose down muddy wellies etc.
Da Crö is part of a working croft and there are hens, ducks and sheep close by.
